{"id":4656,"date":"2018-02-10T12:25:26","date_gmt":"2018-02-10T11:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marottaeditori.com\/?p=4656"},"modified":"2018-02-10T12:33:38","modified_gmt":"2018-02-10T11:33:38","slug":"michelangelo-pistoletto-from-the-mirror-to-the-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/en\/michelangelo-pistoletto-from-the-mirror-to-the-space\/","title":{"rendered":"Michelangelo Pistoletto: from the mirror to the space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michelangelo Pistoletto&#8217;s works have overwhelmingly come into our collective imagination: La <em>Venere degli Stracci<\/em>, i <em>Quadri Specchianti<\/em>, projects such as\u00a0<em>Love Difference<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Terzo Paradiso <\/em>are just some of the\u00a0keypoints that draw the artist&#8217;s artistic path. Last year, his art crossed the ground&#8217;s boundaries to reach the outer space.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Born in Biella in 1933, <strong>Michelangelo Pistoletto<\/strong> took the first steps along his artistic education within his father&#8217;s lab, who was a painter and a restorer.\u00a0 Then, he attended the graphic design school directed by Armando Testa. In the 50&#8217;s he started his artistic activity in exhibitions with the series\u00a0<em>Autoritratti<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4638\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4638\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4638\" src=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Pistoletto-quadri-specchianti.jpg\" alt=\"Pistoletto - Quadri Specchianti\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4638\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pistoletto &#8211; Quadri Specchianti Picture: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/12265657@N04\/4863527447\">Flickr<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A first breakthrough occurred at the beginning of 60&#8217;s , with i\u00a0<strong>Quadri Specchianti<\/strong>: these were made bringing pictorial elements photographically onto onionskin, then, applied to a stainless steel plate polished to perfection. They were able to capture and involve the spectator as well as the dimension of time within the artistic work.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\">Collaboration, aggregation and commitment in Pistoletto&#8217;s poetry.<\/h2>\n<p>Few years later, Pistoletto started developing his activity beyond the traditional exhibition space. <strong>\u00a0In 1967 the Zoo was born<\/strong>: the artist opened his studio to coworkers from the most different disciplines and to the public too. In fact, during several meetings, he developed a number of creative collaborations.\u00a0 With the\u00a0<em>Zoo<\/em> Pistoletto participated in\u00a0<strong>Biennale di Venezia<\/strong> of 1968, where he got chance to publish the\u00a0<em>Manifest of collaboration<\/em>. His unifying action represented the\u00a0 integral part of his poetics developed over the years.\u00a0 In 1978 &#8211; 1979 in\u00a0<strong>Atlanta<\/strong>, he gave birth to<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>Creative Collaboration<\/em>, as in, a form of artistic collaboration extended to the whole city. In\u00a0<strong>Corniglia<\/strong>, his same idea will be developed through the time: together with the inhabitants of the small town he will perform at Teatro Quirino in Roma, with a show called\u00a0<em>Anno Uno <\/em>(1981).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4636\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4636\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4636\" src=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/pistletto-venere-degli-stracci-ph-.jpg\" alt=\"Pistoletto, Venere degli Stracci\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/pistletto-venere-degli-stracci-ph-.jpg 768w, https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/pistletto-venere-degli-stracci-ph--600x450.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4636\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Venere degli Stracci, 1967 &#8211; ph Jean Pierre D&#8217;Alb\u00e8ra<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Even within <em>Poor Art,<\/em> Pistoletto acted as a catalyst for artists from Torino and Rome with the essential role of unifier between the two.\u00a0 From cooperation to social commitment the passage was little: in 1994 Pistoletto gave birth to\u00a0<strong><em>Progetto Arte<\/em><\/strong>, which through a programmatic manifest, public meetings, demonstrations and exhibitions, promoted art as the core function of a social responsible transformation. For it, the artist developed a massive mirroring table shaped as to resemble the Mediterranean sea: this table will host numerous activities aimed at promoting a political system that embraces mutual differences.<\/p>\n<h2>Pistoletto, Naples and the space<\/h2>\n<p>In 2010 Pistoletto published his essay<strong>\u00a0<em>Il Terzo Paradiso<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0 drawing its symbol as well: a reproduction of the mathematical sign of the infinity, in which instead of 2 circles there were 3.\u00a0 The third one in the middle reproduced the female womb, where a new human kind able to overcome the disruptive conflict between nature and artifice, would have been generated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4649\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4649\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4649\" src=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/the-rebirth_onu.jpg\" alt=\"Pistoletto The Rebirth, Ginevra\" width=\"768\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/the-rebirth_onu.jpg 768w, https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/the-rebirth_onu-600x321.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4649\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Rebirth, Ginevra, ph. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cittadellarte.it\/citta2005\/ita\/more\/press_milano_03-2016\/press_milano_03-2016.htm\">Cittadellarte<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This Symbol, simple but powerful, was installed in 2014 in the hall\u00a0of the European Council\u00a0seat in Bruxelles during a period of Italian Presidency. The mirror was directed in a way that it reflected life out of the small street facing the Foundation as it would almost be an osmotic exchange between inner and outer space. Finally , in the same year, a reproduction of the Terzo Paradiso symbol has been choosen for the <strong>logo of the Vita space mission <\/strong>bringing the utopic beauty of Pistoletto&#8217;art through the stars.\u00a0For Bolaffi he made the cover of <a href=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/en\/shop\/bolaffi-art-en\/michelangelo-pistoletto-aquarius\/\">Acquarium<\/a>, edited within the multiples of art dedicated to the <a href=\"https:\/\/old.marottaeditori.com\/en\/product-category\/bolaffi-art-en\/the-seven-liberal-arts\/\">Zodiac signs<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michelangelo Pistoletto&#8217;s works have overwhelmingly come into our collective imagination: La Venere degli Stracci, i Quadri Specchianti, projects such as\u00a0Love Difference\u00a0and\u00a0Terzo Paradiso are just some of the\u00a0keypoints that draw the artist&#8217;s artistic path.
